Terri Axness is from Haines, OR. Terri makes Raku, which is a from if glaze firing developed in Japan over 400 years ago! “The Raku bird is removed from the kiln when glaze is molten and glowing red hot. It is then placed in a sealed bin of sawdust or other combustible material. This starves the glaze of oxygen during cooling, creating metallic effects in the glaze affecting its color.” These are truly on of a kind pieces of art! If a cardinal is not your favorite bird, please call the shop as we have more in stock.
